Facts First PAC

We put a candidate's own words in front of voters. Then we get out of the way.

The Democratic Socialists of America endorse candidates for federal, state, and local office. Those candidates have stated their beliefs publicly, for years, at length. So has the organization that endorsed them.

We quote both accurately, cite the source on screen, and invite anyone to check. No editing tricks. No paraphrase. No inference. Voters reach their own conclusion — our only argument is that they should get to see it first.

How we handle sources

Three kinds of fact. We never let one stand in for another.

This is the rule that does the most work, and the one most often broken by campaigns on every side. An organization is not a person. A person is not an organization.

Source type AMethod

The candidate's own statement

Quoted verbatim from something the candidate wrote, said, posted, or signed. Attributed to the candidate and to no one else. Cited to the original document.

Source type BMethod

The endorsement itself

That a DSA chapter or national body endorsed a candidate is a checkable fact, cited to DSA's own announcement. We report the endorsement. We do not infer from it.

Source type CMethod

The organization's platform

DSA's published planks, resolutions, and convention documents, quoted and cited to DSA. Labeled as the organization's position — never as any individual candidate's.

The line we do not cross

A candidate endorsed by an organization has not thereby said everything that organization has ever said. If we want to attribute a position to a candidate, we quote the candidate. Otherwise we label it as what it is: the platform of a group that endorsed them.

Blurring A, B, and C is the easiest attack to make and the fastest way to lose the credibility this entire operation runs on.

The record

Every entry below is a direct quotation with its source attached.

Entries publish only after the primary document has been located, archived, and checked twice. Anything marked pending source is not a claim we are making.

Editor's note — remove before launch

Each card below is an empty evidence slot and a reusable template. Duplicate a card per entry. Do not publish one until every field is filled and the archive link resolves.

  • Set Record type to A, B, or C. If you cannot tell which, you are not ready to publish it.
  • Quote verbatim. Ellipses only where removed words do not change the meaning.
  • Archive link must be a permanent capture, not just a live URL.
  • Flip status--pending to status--verified only after a second person has checked the original.
  • Where a candidate has responded, publish the response as its own card next to the statement.

State the fact. Cite the source. Invite verification.

This is not about anyone's faith.

Not liberal Jews, not Jews of any political stripe. Religion is not a political position, and we will never treat it as one. Our subject is stated policy positions and nothing else.
